Fireform Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy
Purpose
Fireform is founded on the belief that empowerment, expression, creativity, and safety flourish in inclusive, mindful, and respectful environments. This policy outlines our commitment to equity, consent, and community well-being across all programs, events, and interactions.
1. Non-Discrimination
Fireform does not discriminate in participation, employment, governance, or access to services on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, religion, creed, age, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital or family status, disability, neurodiversity, socioeconomic status, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. All members of the Fireform community are expected to uphold these principles in word and action.
2. Anti-Harassment and Consent
Harassment or boundary violations of any kind—verbal, physical, sexual, emotional, or digital—are strictly prohibited. All participants and representatives of Fireform must:
Engage only in interactions that are affirmatively consensual;
Respect others’ verbal and non-verbal boundaries; and
Immediately discontinue any behavior perceived as unwelcome.
Unwanted sexual attention, discriminatory jokes, intimidation, or retaliation for raising concerns are all forms of harassment and will not be tolerated.
3. Reporting a Concern or Consent Violation
Anyone who experiences or witnesses discrimination, harassment, or a breach of consent may confidentially report it to:
Any Board Member or Program Facilitator
Reports may be made verbally or in writing. Fireform commits to reviewing all reports promptly, with respect for confidentiality and the well-being of those involved.
4. Investigation and Response
A disinterested member of the Board of Directors will review all reports. Appropriate action may include mediation, education, restorative dialogue, or formal disciplinary measures, depending on the nature of the incident. Fireform prioritizes a restorative, educational approach whenever possible, centering the needs of those affected, while ensuring accountability and safety.
5. Education and Prevention
Fireform integrates training and discussion on consent, boundaries, cultural sensitivity, and harm reduction into its programs and volunteer orientation. Prevention through shared understanding is our first line of community care.
6. Policy Oversight
This policy is reviewed annually by the Board of Directors and may be updated as the organization grows, in alignment with Fireform’s mission of empowerment, creative expression, and mutual respect.
