Altered States: Exploring the Intersection of Psychedelic Journeys and Kink Experiences

What happens when we journey within ourselves—turning inwards, relinquishing control, and willingly exploring our shadows? When we disrupt our thought patterns, nervous system responses, and assumed roles and behaviors, the potential for profound transformation blooms before us.

In this exploratory webinar, a licensed psychedelic facilitator and a Shibari & kink practitioner come together to explore the intersections of altered states, power, consent, and healing. Offering nuanced perspectives on often misunderstood practices, Mária and Rayn delve into how both of these experiences explore psychosomatics, vulnerability, trust, and transformation.

In this collaborative conversation, we’ll explore questions like:

  • How do altered states in psychedelic journeys compare to subspace, topspace, and other kink-related experiences?

  • Where do these practices overlap in terms of nervous system activation, identity exploration, somatic connection, power dynamics, and consent frameworks?

  • What are the key differences in intention, structure, and integration?

  • How can practitioners in both spaces deepen their ethical awareness and care practices?

The session will include opening and closing meditations, guided discussion drawn from real-world insights, and interactive Q&A time.

Come with curiosity, openness, and a willingness to explore the edges. All are welcome here.

This is a VIRTUAL event and will be held over Zoom! This class is approached from a feminine lens, but is open to anyone curious about the topic. We offer sliding-scale rates to expand access to those with financial barriers.

Who’s facilitating?

Mária Osero (she/her) is a licensed psychedelic facilitator, PhD student in Clinical Psychology, and practitioner of trauma-informed, somatic & person-centered care. Her work lives at the intersection of clinical precision and ancestral reverence, bridging the gap between Eastern, Western, and Indigenous ways of knowing.

Rooted in her diasporic lineage and shaped by years working in mental and medical healthcare, she is committed to cultivating containers that feel safe, inclusive, and affirming for members of diverse or historically marginalized communities.

Mária approaches facilitation as both personal healing and collective liberation, ensuring that each journey is held with integrity, cultural humility, and deep reciprocity.

Rayn Nguyen (she/her) is an inspired co-creator, space holder, seeker, and connector, interested in the ways we move through life, the roles we play, and the interconnectedness of the self and the world around us.

With a background in harm reduction and drug education, Rayn’s exploration of risk awareness, informed decision-making, and body autonomy extends into her current practices. As a member of the POC, queer, kink, and artistic communities, Rayn is curious about the intersection of consent, mutual support, community care, and liberation in subversive spaces and amongst marginalized individuals.
